Internationale familier, expats og Third Culture Kids

Therapy for expats, international families and Third Culture Kids

Living between languages and countries can be both enriching and quietly lonely. Here, the whole life you live across borders is welcome.

After many years in the US and Switzerland and a life divided between countries, I know the particular mix of freedom, loss, longing and identity that comes with an international life. Sessions in English or Danish, in central Copenhagen or online.

  • Grief that arrives when you are far from home
  • The loneliness of building a new life in a new country
  • Identity, belonging and the question of where home is
  • Trailing spouse and dual-career strain
  • Raising children across languages and cultures
  • Homesickness, transitions and repatriation

  • Third Culture Kids and adult TCKs
  • Grief across borders — loss when family is far away
  • Identity and belonging for international families in Denmark
  • Cross-cultural relationships and parenting
  • Existential questions about home, meaning and rootedness

How I work

I work in a calm, existential way — without a fixed agenda. We go at your pace, and there is room for all the languages, cultures and losses you carry with you. Sessions can be held in English or Danish, whichever feels most like your own. Read more about my approach on the page about existential psychotherapy in Copenhagen.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer therapy in English?

Yes. Sessions can be held entirely in English or in Danish — whichever feels more natural for you. Many international clients move between the two.

I'm only in Copenhagen for a short assignment — is short-term therapy possible?

Yes. Many expats come for a defined number of sessions during a particular chapter. We agree on a rhythm that fits your time in Denmark.

Do you work with Third Culture Kids?

Yes, both younger TCKs and adult TCKs. The particular experience of belonging everywhere and nowhere is close to my own life and something we can explore together.

Can we meet online if I travel a lot?

Yes. Online sessions work well across time zones and travel schedules. Many international clients combine online and in-person sessions.

My partner and I are struggling with the move — can we come together?

Yes. International moves put real strain on relationships, especially when only one partner has a work anchor. We can meet as a couple, individually, or a mix.

Are you covered by international health insurance?

Some international insurance plans cover therapy with an MSc-level therapist — please check with your provider. I can issue receipts in English.
